BSRI partnerships are generally funded through a combination of support from the MA legislature, state and private grants, and district payments. BSRI is a DESE Priority Partner, which allows districts greater flexibility in the funds they can draw upon to support the partnership. These funds include Title I, DSAC, and Title IIA . BSRI actively pursues private sector, state and federal support to underwrite partnership costs, and works flexibly with districts to develop a plan of services and fee structure that meets district needs.
In October 2010, BSRI was one of 49 education reform programs to receive a highly competitive Invest in Innovation award from the U.S. Department of Education. BSRI has also received generous support from the following foundations and businesses:
- Pearson Education
- Lexia Learning
- Boston Foundation
- Northeast Health System
- Dassault Systemes SolidWorks Corporation
- Rockport National Bank
- Adelaide Breed Bayrd Foundation
- Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts
- Charles H. Hall Foundation
